Direct Messaging & Chats

Chatrooms are spaces which allow you to have conversations with a large group of individuals. Unlike direct messages, chatrooms are able to be joined by anyone, allowing you to freely join and leave a conversation.

Chatrooms can contain multiple chats, which are different discussions which all take place as part of the chatroom. Upon creation, chatrooms only have a single chat labelled as “general” but the creator of the chatroom can create more chats at their discretion.

On Community, chatrooms are associated with communities, meaning only communities can create chatrooms and they can be found in the right sidebar of the community page.

On News, chatrooms are associated with topics/subtopics, meaning only network admins can create chatrooms and they can be found in the right sidebar of the topic/subtopic pages.

On Page, chatrooms are associated with users, meaning only users can create chatrooms and they can be found in the right sidebar of the user's page.

On Social, chatrooms are associated with groups, meaning only groups can create chatrooms and they can be found in the right sidebar of the group page.
